Bruce Lee Biopic Film News, Details: Project Will Have Bruce Lee's Daughter as Producer
Despite the number of movies which feature the undeniable fighting, acting, and stunt skills of Bruce Lee, daughter Shannon Lee believes that none of the titles were able to fully grasp his father's philosophy in martial arts and in life as a whole.
A report from The Hollywood Reporter indicated that Shannon announced plans on Friday for a new biopic film featuring her father which will be produced in association with Janet Yang, Lawrence Grey and Ben Everard.
Grey, who with Yang brought "Last Vegas" and "Hope Springs," is reported to be financing the script development and is currently seeking a filmmaker and stars who will be spearheading the biopic film.
"There have been projects out there involving my father," said Lee. "but they've lacked a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry. They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling. The only way to get audiences to understand the depth and uniqueness of my father is to generate our own material."
It has to be noted that this wouldn't be the first time that the life of the kung fu movie star has been told for the big screen.
Rob Cohen had previously made the film "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" for Universal Pictures in 1993 which was made possible with the help of Linda Lee Caldwell's, the widow of Bruce Lee, autobiography.
THR noted that it hasn't been clarified yet whether Shannon's late brother and actor, Brandon Lee, will be featured in the film.
