'New Girl' Season 5: Megan Fox to Debut as Reagan

"New Girl" season 5's upcoming episode will welcome Megan Fox as Reagan, a pharmaceutical sales representative who will act as Jess' temporary replacement.

On Monday, a teaser clip for "New Girl" season 5's Feb. 9 episode revealed that Megan Fox will debut as Reagan in the series. Her character will temporarily take Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) place in the loft, according to UPI.

While Deschanel's character is out, Reagan will rent out her room while she is in town for business, but her presence will cause a bit of mayhem among the people around her. The preview clip shows Reagan settling into her new room with Nick (Jake Johnson) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) visibly delighted.

As of now, Deschanel is still on maternity leave after she gave birth to her daughter Elsie in July. In the series, Jess will be absent to perform her jury duty, the report explains.

In an interview with Vulture, "New Girl" creator Liz Meriweather expressed her gratitude for having Fox to replace Deschanel temporarily.

"She's great. There's something about her in this character that felt sort of new for her, and then there's something about this character on the show that felt good for us," said Meriweather. "This confident, tough-talking woman coming in to see through the guys' bull[expletive]."

To make the story more interesting, Reagan has a romantic past with Cece (Hannah Simone), and the latter is Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) fiancée. Fox's entry into the scene will stir in a bit of jealousy into Cece and Schmidt's relationship, Youth Health Mag reports.

Aside from shaking up her ex's current relationship and bringing out Schmidt's insecurities, Reagan will also cause some more ripples by trying to seduce Nick, the report adds.

Megan Fox will only appear in three episodes of the series. Before playing the new girl in "New Girl" season 5, she had previously starred in "Transformers" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
