New music video reflects singer's heart for missions

November 26, 2003|8:58 am

RICHMOND, Va.—There is an infinite number of ways to spread the gospel and for Jeni Varnadeau, a young Christian, singing and writing songs are only two of them. Her new music video armed with a mission-geared message, entitled “Go and Tell” was chosen to be part of this year’s resources for the International Missions Emphasis and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

Varnadeau’s family always a heart for missions evident also through the mission work Varnadeu’s older sister Lisa Olson was doing under as a Southern Baptist representative in northern Africa. Although Lisa Olsen fell ill and died to a disease in 2001, Varnadeu’s work now is inspired by her sister.

"My sister not only introduced me to the Lord, but she was a tremendous inspiration in all areas of my life," she says. "Many of my passions -- spending time with God, building my faith, missions and a heart for the world -- were encouraged by her."

Such passions has garnered for Varnadeu six Top 10 radio hits, two movie soundtracks, two No. 1 videos, four albums and extensive tours in both the United States and Europe.

Her music video “Go and Tell” imparts on others her own inspiriation."Go and Tell was written as a prayer to God. As I look around the world and see His creation, and I read the Bible and understand His power, I just have to go and tell the world about Him!" She even says she wants every listener to “take something with them” after listening to every song she sings or writes, especially something that will lead them Jesus or the Bible.

Varnadeau also is featured in a segment of the "Kids On Mission" video produced by the International Mission Board. In addition to her new song, she shares about her ministry with older girls, called ChikChat.
