New York Knicks Trade Rumors 2016: Celtics' Turner Could Be Addition To Knicks; Dwight Howard Looking To Remain With Houston

Boston Celtics small forward/shooting guard Evan Turner is being seen as a possible great addition to the New York Knicks' line-up.

According to a report by Frank Isola for the New York Daily News, the 27-year-old professional basketball player will be turning into a free agent by the summer, adding that New York Knicks president Phil Jackson could use Turner well in the line-up.

"Turner is an interesting player — a second overall pick who never became a superstar but is a pretty talented playmaker. He is exactly the type of big guard Jackson prefers in the triangle offense," an excerpt of Isola's report reads.

Turner was a second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. After playing four seasons in Philadelphia, the Indiana Pacers signed him in 2014, but after the team opted not to make another offer for Turner, he in turn, became an instant unrestricted free agent.

In September 2014, the Boston Celtics then signed him. For the current season, Turner has played in 51 games in total and is averaging 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks, through 26.9 minutes of playing time per game.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets are not willing to let go of big man Dwight Howard any time soon. As far back as December of 2015, the 30-year-old professional basketball player has been rumored to be headed for New York.

However, in a report by Sean Meagher for Oregon Live, the Rockets are not yet trading Howard, despite the fact that he will become a free agent by July.

"ESPN reports that Howard, who has a player option for $23.3 million next season, does not want to be traded," an excerpt of Meagher's report reads.

For the current season, Howard has played in 41 games, and is averaging 14.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals, through 31.9 minutes of playing time per game.
