Nexus 7 2013 and Chromecast Bundle Promotion Comes With Free $35 Google Play Credit

Google is now offering a bundle that includes the Nexus 7 2013 model and Chromecast that comes with a free $35 Google Play credit.

The deal is available as a special Christmas promotion and requires customers to purchase both devices together in order to access the free credit. Both Chromecast and the Nexus 7 are impressive devices and the combination of the two will allow users to stream music and movies from the slate to their television.

The Chromecast became compatible with even more apps recently and can now play local files that are synced with a user's Plex media library from iOS, Android or Chrome. Plex support was highly requested by Chromecast users looking to play content from a device on an HDTV.

Other apps added to the list of those that work with Chromecast include Vevo, Songza, Red Bull TV, Post TV from The Washington Post, Viki, and RealPlayer Cloud. The new channels should be rolling out to iOS, Android and Chrome shortly. These new apps join the likes of HBO Go, YouTube and Netflix.

Chromecast utilizes data from a cloud and sends it directly to a TV set through its HDMI output. Content can be accessed from those clouds by connecting the Chromecast and a device such as a smartphone or tablet directly to a Wi-Fi network. Once the user's app is connected, anything they watch or play on the device's app will also show up on their TV screen giving them a bigger screen to watch Netflix or other video apps content on.

The Nexus 7 (2013) was released shortly before the summer of this year and introduced Android 4.3 JellyBean to the market. It features impressive specs including a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 HD display, 2GB RAM, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 16/32GB of internal storage, built-in wireless charging, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
