Nexus 8 Tablet Rumors Begin, Device Appears on Company Website

A device that could be called the Nexus 8 made an appearance on the Android website earlier this month.

The image appeared in the "apps and entertainment" page that is used to display some of the first and third party applications currently available for KitKat. The header image for the section shows a woman using a tablet that is slightly bigger than the Nexus 7. The body design also differs from the tablet.

The device in the images does resemble the LG G Pad so this could be the company's 8-incher made for the Nexus line.

A new tablet with the codename LG-V510 which could have been the Nexus 8 was recently Bluetooth certified by the FCC, according to a report from GSM insider. The G-Pad has the codename LG-500.

There is also the possibility of the LG-V510 being an LTE variant of the G-Pad.

Google announced the launch of the Nexus 5 smartphone last week via press release.

"Just in time for Halloween, we have two new treats for Android fans," wrote the company. "First, we're excited to unwrap our latest platform release, KitKat, which delivers a smarter, more immersive Android experience to even more people. And second, we're introducing Nexus 5-a new Nexus phone developed with LG."

Specifications on the Nexus 5 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor running at up to 2.3GHz, a 4.96-inch LCD 1080p display, 2GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 16 or 32GB internal memory, a 2300 mAh battery and an 8-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization.

The Nexus 5 will also be one of the first devices to run Google's latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

"For KitKat, we partnered with LG to develop Nexus 5- the slimmest and fastest Nexus phone ever made," wrote Google in the press release. "Its design is simple and refined to showcase the 5 Full HD display."
