Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey both believe that his music is more of a "joke" than anything, according to the musician and TV personality. He revealed that his upcoming album, "White People Party Music," and its single, "Me Sexy" aren't taken seriously by either of them.
Nick Cannon compared his album to his wife Mariah Carey's, calling her latest effort "The Art of Letting Go" nothing short of "incredible. His rap career is a different story, however.
"She thinks my music is a big joke," he told Enstarz, "but so do I, so it doesn't matter."
Cannon's previous musical work goes from a legitimate rap group in the 1990s Da G4 Dope Bomb Squad with friend Steve Groves, T.I. and Chingy to more family-friendly, parody and comedy songs in the 2000s. His latest effort is a return to comedy rapping, and his latest music video for "Me Sexy" is far from the "anthems" his wife creates.
"My music is silly, you know what I mean? She makes anthems that change people's lives. I make songs about shaking ya (butt)," he explained. "My album is called 'White People Party Music,' so that's how I would describe it. Fist-pumping, good-time, have-a-blast type of music."
Despite Cannon not taking his own music too seriously, the "America's Got Talent" host was still tapped to DJ at the MTV Video Music Awards after-party. The New York City club Finale after-party was attended by various celebrities like Jenny McCarthy and others. The next morning, though, he was back at it.
"Up and At'm! Ncredibles let's go! #focused," he tweeted.
