Nick Cannon is a father of 2-year-old twins, and his protective side is out in full force. The performer recently told Howard Stern that he tried to reach out and help Amanda Bynes.

The two worked together on Nickelodeon's hit show "All That," with Cannon starring on the series from 1998-2000 and Bynes from 1996-2002. The two grew up together in a sense and Cannon always felt protective of his younger co-star.

"I worked on Amanda's show … that's like my little sister," Cannon told Stern. "To see someone you've seen at 9 (years old), she's running around with a snotty nose and now to see her … that's like, wow man, it's sad. I tried to reach out."

Cannon apparently tried to contact Bynes but was dismayed when he learned that she "doesn't have any of her people anymore." He was unable to actually speak with Bynes, who has had a hectic time of things lately. Many people have spoken out and offered assistance to the young star, but so far she has refused all offers of help.

Bynes' behavior, including retiring from acting, several arrests and the most recent arrest for marijuana possession, has a great deal of people concerned for her health and wellness. She has seemingly only communicated with the public and possibly her friends via text message or Twitter.

Cannon, meanwhile, is busy parenting his twins with singer Mariah Carey. The two have been married for five years and renewed their vows just last year while in Paris. The two held the ceremony atop the Eiffel Tower four years after they exchanged vows in the Bahamas.

"Tonight was an incredible night," Carey tweeted. "I can't express how amazing it was to renew our vows in Paris at the top of the Eiffel tower."

Carey and Cannon have a set of twins, Monroe Cannon and Moroccan Scott Cannon, who were born in April 2011.
