Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea Talk BET Awards Feud

Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea are both addressing the alleged feud that the public is speculating about after the BET Awards took place last Sunday.

Minaj, the 31-year-old hip hop star from Queens, N.Y., is no stranger to to winning the honor of Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the award show, but caused speculation when people thought she was calling Iggy out with her acceptance speech.

"What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," Minaj said before adding, "No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade."

Since Iggy, the 24-year-old hip hop star from Australia, has enjoyed Billboard success this year with her song "Fancy" some in the media and Twitter assumed Minaj was speaking insinuating that she did not write her own rhymes. Now, both ladies have decided to address the speculation.

Minaj insists that she was not speaking negatively about anyone in particular and explained the part of her speech that had people up in arms.

"The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us," Minaj tweeted. "I believe we're smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I've been saying this for 5 YEARS."

While citing female rappers like Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliott as her influences for powerful female writers and producers, Minaj also addressed Iggy directly.

"I've congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that," Minaj tweeted. "All the women nominated should b proud. That will never change my desire to motivate women to write."

She added, "Our voices have to be heard. I hope I inspire up & coming females to do that."

Iggy also took to her social media account, to address rumors that Nicki had been shading her. The Australian rapper called the online speculation about a feud with Nicki petty and lame.

"If I had won the BET award that would've been great but it wasn't my year & I don't mind - so you shouldn't either. Generally speaking I'm unbothered by anything that 'happened' at the BET awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time," she wrote on Instagram. "Anyone who wishes me well, is welcome in my life & those who don't can't get any more of my time. I hate to see everyone exhausting themselves on my behalf over things that I'm still not 100% sure even exist & don't matter. just let it go."
