Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Dating News: Ex-Couple Not Speaking on Set of 'Vampire Diaries'?

After reports surfaced last week that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev were being affectionate with each other on the set of "The Vampire Diaries," new reports claim that Dobrev is refusing to speak to Somerhalder at all because she is upset with his engagement to Nikki Reed.

Somerhalder and Dobrev dated for two years before ending their relationship in 2013. Somerhalder started dating Reed last August, and early this month, it was reported that they have gotten engaged. Reed and Dobrev used to be close friends until the "Twilight" star started dating the actor.

Hollywood Life reports that Dobrev has started to give Somerhalder the cold shoulder treatment, which was reportedly very evident during one instance when the actor recently directed one episode of the series.

"Nina was acting cold towards Ian on set," said a source to Hollywood Life. "Nina was kinda mean to Ian. He was directing her and moving her around and she would barely answer him."

If there's any truth to the rumors, then Dobrev and Somerhalder may be having an awkward time being around each other on set as the series has shown a new development in their characters' relationship. Co-executive producer Caroline Dries recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight to give a preview about what's going to happen to Damon and Elena.

Dries said that Elena will fall in love with Damon all over again.

"As they reconnect — she's been compelled to forget that she loved him — those feelings are still in her," said Dries. "So it's like what do we do?"

Somerhalder also told ET that he believes it's important for the Damon and Elena fans to focus on the positive side of things.

"That glimmer of hope usually turns into some really gnarly things but it's a give-and-take," he said. "I think that there's some really great stuff coming up, some great Damon and Elena stuff."
