Nintendo plans to focus more on integrating third-party titles into its upcoming Wii U console than it has in the past with the original Wii.

The company made an appearance at this year's E3 electronic entertainment expo where it focused heavily on third-party developers in its keynote.

Much of the original Wii's early success is due to the uniqueness of the console, however, its recent downfall can be attributed to lackluster third-party accommodations.

The console launched in 2006 and was arguably the hottest electronic on the market at the time. But interest for the Wii has declined recently due to its inability to add an effective touch to popular third-party titles such as Madden Football and Assassin's Creed.

Nintendo plans to change this with the Wii U and its tablet controller.

Customers purchasing games such as Batman: Arkham City for the new Nintendo console will be able to take advantage some unique features.

For example, the tablet controller allows the player to select than guide batarangs through the city scape in the Batman game.

In another title known as ZombiU, players can use the tablet as a sniper sight or as a keypad on a door.

Nintendo also spent some time at E3 showing off some of its exclusive titles coming out for the Wii U including Super Mario Brothers Wii U and Scribblenauts Unlimited.

There will also be a new version of Wii Fit for the new console that utilizes the game pad for aiming and allows the player to continue the workout after leaving the television.

Nintendo also demoed some of the upcoming games for the 3DS at E3 including Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and third-party titles such as Epic Mickey and Castlevania: Lord of Shadow.

The company will make some more announcements regarding its handheld system, the 3DS, at a conference on Wednesday.
