Even after NYPD Sgt. Mohammed Deen, 40, appeared to have been knocked unconscious, his attacker kept pummeling his face with his fists, kicked him repeatedly and banged his head on the street outside a restaurant and bar in Queens, N.Y., as his wife watched and screamed helplessly in horror.

Deen's attacker, later identified in news reports as Hayden Holder, 29, battered him outside St. John's Express restaurant and bar located on Liberty Avenue in Ozone Park, according to the New York Daily News.

And based on a graphic one-and-a-half minute clip of the incident posted to YouTube on Monday, Holder meted out his attack without compunction.

The voice of a spectator, which appeared to be either the person recording the video or was someone who was with the person recording the video, can be heard egging Holder on to "knock his a** out" shortly before Holder throws the first punch at Deen.

The at times shaky video then shows Holder raining down blows on Deen, who appears unconscious by his unresponsiveness at this time, as the male spectators yell, "that n***a dead. Oh S**t, that n***a dead."

Holder soon begins punching the window of Deen's BMW sedan after stepping away from the unresponsive officer as his wife tried protecting herself inside the vehicle.

When he fails to break the window, he walks back to Deen's unresponsive body, shouts expletives at his face then grabs him by the shoulders and slams his head hard on the pavement.

It wasn't until it looked like Holder had no intention of stopping the assault that the spectators told him to "leave him (victim)" at the end of the clip.

Mother of the officer, Khirol Deen, expressed anger at the assault on her son Sunday night.

"All I know is that my son is lying down in the hospital," she told the New York Daily News. "How would you feel if your son was hit like that?"

NYPD Chief of Department Philip Banks III explained that the attack stemmed from an earlier dispute between the men, which began at the Maracas night club about a mile away from where the attack happened.

Holder reportedly tried running from the scene when cops arrived but was eventually caught and said he wasn't aware that Deen was an officer.

Deen is reportedly in a medically induced coma at Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.
