'Once Upon a Time' season 5 news, cast, spoilers: Regina and Emma's reversal of roles and Rumpelstiltskin takes Emma under his wing

For viewers, among the great shows in television right now is "Once Upon a Time" as it continuously incorporates characters from everyone's well-loved stories into the small screen. This season is bound to be more exciting as the veterans of the show deal with a fresh new dilemma.

Season 4 ended with Emma getting sucked into the dagger and taking the evil upon herself. Of course this becomes quite problematic as Emma has always been the hero. What she did will lead to a forced reversal of roles, as Emma becomes the villain and Regina as the hero. Regina, alongside Charming, Snow, Hook, and Henry, will be tasked to bring Emma back to her original self.

The idea of Regina becoming a hero isn't quite new, as she has been developing her inner hero in the past few seasons already. However, Regina hasn't been fully committed to the idea of saving others before, and her commitment is definitely required this time if she fully wants to bring Emma back. According to the Inquisitr, Lana Parilla, who plays Regina, shared some thoughts to Yahoo! Celebrity about this. She is quoted saying, "I think that the hero has been evolving within Regina in the last year. The cool thing about her is that she is both good and bad now — like everyone in the world, we all possess evil thoughts or whatever — and I love that she is embracing both sides. I think she is going to have a huge impact in bringing Emma back into the light."

From the recent teasers, it seems that one of the things that might make it harder for Emma to let go of the darkness would be the event that she will be trained by Rumpelstiltskin. When TvLine asked Eddy Kitsis, co-showrunner, how this was possible when Rumpel is still in a coma, he answers, "Upon being consumed by the Darkness in the May finale, Emma did not travel time, but she did travel realms. And why Rumpel's there will be immediately explained within the first act of the premiere."

To see what will be done to save Emma, fans can catch the season premiere of Once Upon a Time on Sept. 27.
