Spoilers have already proliferated online after earlier spoilers revealed Piper's egotistic journalist boyfriend, Larry Bloom (Jason Biggs), would not be returning for the third season, giving an opening for Piper and Alex to renew their affair.

Speculations have surrounded Big Boo and her rumored death in the series when Season 3 introduced her past via flashback. Fans of the show have been alerted to the fact that "OITNB" only shows flashbacks to indicate they will be killing off a character. There will reportedly be more Piper flashbacks, as well, but instead of being killed off, main character, Piper is said to be appearing in all episodes of the upcoming season.

The new season will have a total of 44 episodes and will feature cast regulars Red (Kate Mulgrew), Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Pennsatucky (Taryn Manning), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Gloria Mendoza (Selenis Levya), and Morello (Yael Stone), who will all be returning from the previous season.

According to the show's insiders, some returning characters will be reintroduced, and some fresh faces will make an appearance.

Kimiko Glenn will be returning as Brook Soso, Academy Award winning actress, Mary Steenburgen will make an appearance as George "Pornstache" Mendez's mother, and comedian Mike Birbiglia of "Sleepwalk with Me" fame will have an as yet unconfirmed role in Season 3, as well.
