Aaron Hernandez Trial News: Patriots Were Quick to Respond After Hernandez Allegedly Killed Lloyd, Detective Claims

An investigator said that the New England Patriots were alerted when he and his companion went to Aaron Hernandez's house following the murder of Odin Lloyd.

In a report by the Associated Press on Saturday, North Attleborough police Detective Daniel Arrighi said that he and a state trooper went to Hernandez's home hours after the dead body of Lloyd was seen near the house on June 17, 2013.

After walking around the house, Arrighi said that they decided to check out the home of the Patriots' assistant coach Joe Judge, who is living beside Hernandez. Arrighi added that Judge called the team's security.

He further testified that Hernandez went out an hour after they arrived, telling them that he has been looking at them through his surveillance system.

Arrighi also said that Hernandez got infuriated after the interrogation, and Arrighi heard Hernandez saying, "You guys aren't coming in here.'' Arrighi then clarified that Hernandez eventually decided to go to the police station.

Hernandez's legal counsel James Sultan then asked Arrighi during the cross-examination why the latter did not call Hernandez prior to the house visit.

"Do you know of any requirement that a private citizen of North Attleborough has to answer his door at 10:30 at night?'' Sultan questioned Arrighi, who replied with a no.

Later during the trial, a state police trooper admitted at finding a gun near the site of the killing. The gun, a .22-caliber pistol, was, according to the police, owned by Hernandez.

Earlier in the trial, Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh denied Sultan's motion not to include a video showing that Hernandez used another phone to call a co-defendant one day after the murder among the list of evidences. Garsh, however, will not the tell the jury the source of the phone.

The Patriots, who recently won the NFL title, waived Hernandez following his arrest.
