Paul Washer Released From Hospital After Heart Attack; Fans Rejoice

Fans of beloved HeartCry Missionary Society founder Paul Washer, who suffered a massive heart attack at his home in Virginia last month, are now praising God since his release from the hospital last Friday after enduring emergency surgery some two weeks ago.

"**Paul is finally home and resting after a long 'mission trip' to the hospital. He's so grateful for all the prayers and encouraging notes," a message on Washer's Facebook page announced last Friday.

Washer had been slated to be released earlier but developed a "severe skin reaction" to medication which forced further observation from his medical team.

"As a retired Cardiac nurse, your experience was taxing both physically and emotionally and now you are home with Charo and the kids and your own bed and comfy chair. We praise God, from Whom ALL blessings flow. He has had His hand on you from the start and you can rest in that assurance. We love you! The world loves you and eagerly look forward to you being in the pulpit in the near future," wrote Shannon Howell of Poinciana, Florida, in reaction to the announcement.

"God is so good! Praise be to you Lord. Amen. Finish the race Rev. Paul for you are meant to continue and fulfill Jesus' great commission all for His glory. No sickness nor forces of evil can stop what God has already designed for you! God bless you more and more! Washer has many supporters from around the world especially in Latin America. He founded The HeartCry Missionary Society in Peru in 1988 where he also met his wife, Rosario.

The itinerant preacher is also well-known for preaching the "Shocking Youth Message" to about 5,000 youth at a Baptist conference in 2002. In the sermon that has attracted nearly 2 million views on YouTube, he told them that most of them, even the ones who profess Jesus, could end up in Hell.

"I stand here today ... I'm not troubled in my heart about your self-esteem. I'm not troubled in my heart about whether or not you feel good about yourself, whether or not life is turning out like you want it to turn out, or whether or not your checkbook is balanced. There's only one thing that gave me a sleepless night. There's only one thing that troubled me all throughout the morning, and this is this. Within a hundred years, a great majority of people in this building will possibly be in Hell. And many who even profess Jesus Christ as Lord will spend an eternity in Hell," he said.

"I spend most of my time preaching in South America, in Africa, and Eastern Europe. And I want you to know that, when you take a look at American Christianity, it is based more upon a godless culture than it is upon the Word of God."

Even as he was being treated for his heart attack, Anthony R Mathenia, pastor at Christ Church in Radford, Virginia, which partners with HeartCry Missionary Society in its "efforts to see the nations redeemed," recently noted that Washer, who has four children, never stopped witnessing.

"For those of you interested, yes he is witnessing to everyone, even the hospital chaplains," Mathenia noted in a tweet.

He said while discussing the heart attack with Washer, the missionary told him: "I'm like Buck on Ice Age, 'I died, but then I lived.'"
