'Peaky Blinders' Season 4 News: The Shelbys Go Back To Basics As They Face A New Rival Gang

The BBC recently released a teaser trailer for "Peaky Blinders" season 4 and one big takeaway is that the Shelby Gang is going back to doing what they do best. This was further confirmed by actor Cillian Murphy who plays gang leader Tommy Shelby saying that the season will return to its roots after the family rose to high society last season.

Back in season 3, the show lacked from a lack of action and grit, something that the series hopes to make up for this season. Aside from bringing back the Shelbys to their criminal roots, a new enemy is also threatening the crime family in the form of Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody.

According to series creator Steven Knight, Brody will play the leader of "a gang of Italian-Americans" muscling in on the Shelbys' turf. This might explain Polly's (Helen McCrory) line in the teaser where she says that the gang is out of their league. It would be exciting to see how the Shelbys deal with this existential threat this season.

In addition to Brody, "Game of Thrones" actor Aidan Gillen will also join the cast. Gillen will play the role of Aberama Gold in the new season, a hard-nut gypsy who is said to be an 'uneasy' ally of Tommy Shelby.

Fans of the Irish actor for his portrayal of the scheming and manipulating Littlefinger in GoT will also be pleased to know that his character in the 'Peaky Blinders' will also return in the fifth season. When asked to describe Gold, Knight said, "Aidan is a sort of, in the face of danger it's like pressing the nuclear button – you get him to help. Let me put it that way."

The BBC has yet to release an official premiere date for "Peaky Blinders" season 4.
