With that, there are also speculations that the series will bring a villain back to the small screen. Logan also spoke about Hecate, who is rumored to come back for season 3 to bring more trouble to the characters.

Logan revealed, "I think Hecate is such a delicious character because she has her mother's sort of flamboyant sense of evil and flamboyant sense of language, but she's a contemporary young woman who's not as bound as her mother to the old tropes of Satanism."

Aside from the new characters coming, it was stated that the series will be taking on a new setting. Reports suggest that Ethan Chandler, played by Josh Harnett, will soon take on the American West in 1800s. This new environment is expected to show a different dynamics between the different characters.

There are speculations that Chandler will be faced with his own challenges, which he will have to go through alone. This is due to Logan's statement which revealed, "Next season, some of them are alone, and they don't have their friends to turn to."

"Penny Dreadful" season 3 is expected to air on Showtime this May 1.
