Also, this year's People's Choice Awards promised fans that Justin Timberlake would take the stage if they took to Twitter in force, which they did.

As the night went on, Sandra Bullock and Timberlake both took home several awards during the night, while Britney Spears earned her very first People's Choice Award.

"Thank you! Wow. This is so cool! This is awesome," Spears said during her acceptance speech after winning the award for Favorite Pop Artist, according to Billboard.

"I was not expecting this," she added. "And it's because of all of you that I am able to do what I love to do, and I just want to thank my family, my beautiful family. My boys at home. My management team and all of my friends, I love you dearly. Thank you."

Jennifer Hudson also took home the Humanitarian Award and accepted the honor with a tearful speech. The actress/singer founded Julian D. King Gift Foundation, a charity organization following the murders of her mother, brother and nephew in 2008.

"I have to start off saying the same thing I said when I won my Oscar- look what God can do," Hudson began, according to Us Weekly. "This all started, like, back home in our church where we grew up. My mother always taught us that without family you have nothing, and whether you know it or not all are my family, and what happens to the other happens to us, so it's very important to make a difference."

Meanwhile, in the acting category, stars such as Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler and Sarah Michelle Gellar each took home awards, among many others.

As for movies, "Gravity," "Carrie," and "Despicable Me 2" were named 2013's best films.

Television awards went out to shows such as "The Voice," "The Good Wife," "Homeland" and "The Big Bang Theory."
