'Persona 5' release date, news, and more: Characters will be battling various opponents

While some details of "Persona 5" have been released during the interview with director Katsura Hashino, plus new drops revealed in the recent info leak, new information have surfaced regarding the highly anticipated JRPG.

Atlus has previously announced that the game won't come anytime this year, but that gives the team more time to furnish everything before its expected release next year.

In the latest issue of Famitsu, one of the biggest Japanese magazines, it is reported that "Persona 5" will be different from the previous two games and the characters will be battling various opponents.

According to Persona Central, the story has been designed to be that of an "omnibus," meaning the team won't be focusing on one specific villain, and as mentioned, each character might be fighting a different opponent.

Probably one of the most significant parts of the story is the mystery that the "Isekainabi" holds, a phone application that main characters will use to discover the location of their targets.

The details revealed the issues between the protagonist and his friends. In some parts of the game, the team will feel that they have somehow "lost their way." The feeling will lead them to focus on the "Isekainabi."

The story line will include the lives of Ryuji Sakamoto, Anna Takami, Morgana, and Yusuke Kitagawa. Each of the characters' initial "Persona" will be conceptualized in the form of a "picaresque hero," wherein the hero inside of them will awaken in specific parts of the "Palace."

As for the gameplay, players will be allowed to personalize and expand their stories through phone text messaging with other characters, as seen in the PV03 trailer. Players are also given the ability to roam and explore various sites in the Greater Tokyo area.

Hashino has reiterated that since the game's scope and gameplay are still very vast, his development team will need more time to come up with a game that fans will not complain about.

"Persona 5" is scheduled for release in Japan during summer 2016 for PS3 and PS4 and still does not have a specific release date announced for its North American launch.
