The New York Giants are second in the division with an 8-3 record, and the Eagles may have to hope they suffer a complete breakdown in December to leapfrog them.
Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins are third in the division with a 6-4-1 record, and they will be the first target for the Eagles to catch if they are to stand any chance at making the postseason.
Philadelphia started the season in excellent fashion, but have lost six of their last eight games to drop down to a losing record and on the fringe of Playoffs elimination.
The Eagles' main issue has been that they are finding it difficult to make it to the End Zone. Over their past two games they have averaged just 14 points a game in their clashes with the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks.
The Bengals meanwhile have lost three straight games to drop down to 3-7-1, and they have next to no chance now of making the Playoffs.
They will be without their star receiver, AJ Green, for today's game, making it basically the third straight game that they have been missing him. Green has an injured hamstring, which he suffered during their game against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 20, and he has been a major loss for the team.
Cincinnati has averaged 15.3 points through their current slide, and they will know they need to give quarterback Andy Dalton more protection if they are to made inroads in offense. Dalton has been sacked 32 times, and last week in the 19-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens he suffered several of his passes being batted down.
Despite suffering from a lack of protection, Dalton still ranks third in the AFC with 3,043 passing yards. That means that he joins Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to make 3,000 passing yards through their first six seasons in the league.
Looking at today's game, both teams have been struggling on offense, which indicates this could be a low scoring and perhaps scrappy affair.
But the Bengals are the home team, and they have the much more experienced quarterback, meaning they should have a good chance at claiming just their fourth win of the season so far today, and with it end the Eagles' slim hopes of making the Playoffs.
