Phoenix Suns Injury News: TJ Warren Out for the Season Due to Broken Foot

The Phoenix Suns are seriously struggling this season, with several issues hounding the team from the coaching staff down to player issues and injuries.

Just days after the front office fired head coach Jeff Hornacek, the Suns suffered another setback when small forward T.J. Warren suffered a broken right foot that may need surgery. He therefore is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Warren did not suit up for Phoenix's game against the Dallas Mavericks when the medical staff diagnosed him with a right ankle impingement; but it turned out to be a more serious foot injury. Before the injury, Warren was already averaging decent numbers of 11.0 points a game and 3.1 rebounds, although his team hasn't really been that competitive as of late.

Phoenix currently holds a 14-36 win-loss record in the Western Conference, suggesting that getting to the playoffs is more than a long shot right now. After the firing of Hornacek, the team defended the decision saying that the players weren't responding to the coach, who happens to be a former Suns guard himself.

Filling in for Hornacek is another former NBA guard in Earl Watson, who will be performing his duties as an interim head coach.

Team officials actually did not specifically mention if Warren will be undergoing surgery to repair the broken foot, but with the announcement that he's out for the season, it certainly looks to be the case. He had an MRI last Monday in Phoenix right after the team's trip in Dallas. The last time he played was against the New York Knicks, where they were blown out 102-84.

The struggles the team is facing right now aren't just about losing. It all started when star guard Eric Bledsoe went down with a torn meniscus, leaving him out of the season, too.

Warren was selected 14th overall by the Suns in the 2014 NBA Draft out of NC State. He was promoted to the starting lineup midway through the season after shooting 50.1 percent. He is considered part of the team's future at just 22 years old.
