'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Release Date, Cast News: Orlando Bloom's Will Turner is Back

The D23 Expo at Anaheim, California this week, saw the announcement of one of the biggest casting news for the Mouse House's upcoming big screen project, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."

One of the franchise's key characters will be returning and it's none other than Will Turner played by "The Lord of The Rings" star, Orlando Bloom.

Turner was one of the essential pieces to the PoTC saga alongside Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow and Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swan.

Bloom's last involvement on the series as the said character was on "At the World's End" where Will was forced to sail forever as the captain of the Flying Dutchman. It's a bittersweet ending for Will and Elizabeth, who can only be together every 10 years.

It remains to be confirmed if Knightley will be reprising her role. However, earlier reports quoted the actress saying that she's already done with the franchise.

The weekend's event also saw some spectacular moments including the appearance of Depp as his character.

"Where are we?" a pretend-drunk Captain Sparrow (or Depp) asked Walt Disney's president of production, Sean Bailey.

"Disneyland!" the studio's executive chimed in.

"Never heard of it," Depp (or Captain Jack) appears to be bewildered. He then started throwing out grapes to the audience.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to also feature the acts of Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar alongside Geoffrey Rush's anti-hero, Captain Barbossa. The film is expected to sail to the theaters July 7, 2017.
