PlayStation 4 Software Update Version 2.02 Now Rolling Out, Patch Offers More Stability

Sony is now rolling out the Playstation 4's 2.02 firmware update, according to reports. This is the second patch designed to address the bug issues found on the 2.00 update.

It was on Nov. 5 that the company launched the 2.01 update which was initially designed to squash the bug found in the console's Rest Mode. Users were reportedly complaining about their PS4s inability to resume or wake up after being put into standby mode, Gamespot reported.

PlayStation first announced the news yesterday through their social media.

"PS4 system software update v2.02 is coming soon, and will improve system software stability during use of some features, games, and apps," the Twitter post read.

The 217MB file was made available to the U.K. Monday and was released Tuesday for the North American console owners. There were no detailed patch notes released by Sony.

This "improved stability" will particularly address to the technical issues occurring in the review copies of the upcoming game from Bioware, Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Several review sites like IGN, Joystiq, and even Gamespot reported encountering crashes with their test kit that runs on the 2.01 patch. But with the arrival of the advanced copy of the 2.02 firmware, they said that the issue disappeared while accessing the game.

IGN further posted in their article that players should be able to update their consoles to the new version when Dragon Age: Inquisition hits the shelves next week, Nov. 18 in the U.S. and Nov. 21 for the U.K. region.
