PlayStation Franchise Sale features 'Grand Theft Auto' series

Sony has refreshed its PlayStation Franchise Sale and it looks like the company intends to go out with a high note for the promotion's last week. As a final offering, the company shines the spotlight on Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto" series.

"PlayStation Store delivers high-octane fun in the final week of the Franchise Sale series," said Andy Yen, digital commerce manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment, in a post at the PlayStation Blog. "Lose yourself in some of the most iconic gaming locales of the past fifteen years, including San Andreas, Liberty City and Vice City."

The promotion covers titles from "Grand Theft Auto III" to the latest entry "Grand Theft Auto V" that were released to the PlayStation 3, PS4, and PSP.

Owners of Sony's current-generation console can buy "GTA V" on its own or as part of a Cash Card Bundle which provides in-game currency along with the base game. PS2 classic versions of "GTA III," "GTA: San Andreas," and "GTA: Vice City" can also be purchased separately or as part of the "GTA: The Trilogy" for the PS4. Meanwhile, the PS3 offers these along with other PS2 classic titles "Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories" and "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories." Last but not least, the PSP also gets "GTA Chinatown Wars" along with the latter two.

In addition to the "Grand Theft Auto" series, this week's franchise sale also features the "Fast & Furious" movie series.

Sony's PlayStation Franchise Sale started last month and lasted for nearly two months. Last week, Sony put on sale the LEGO franchise. Other franchises featured in previous weeks include Ubisoft's "Tom Clancy" and "Assassin's Creed" series, Activision's "Call of Duty," and Konami's "Metal Gear Solid."

The PlayStation Franchise Sale featuring "GTA" and "Fast & Furious" series ends on Monday, April 25.
