PlayStation Plus October 2017 Free Games List Rumors: 'Resident Evil' Titles Expected in the Lineup

Sony has yet to make the big announcement on its lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for the month of October. However, rumors are already swirling around as to which games will make it to next month's list.

Currently, the PS Plus lineup is composed of big titles, including "InFAMOUS: Second Son," "That's You," "We Are Doomed" and Child of Light."

On Wednesday, Sony is expected to announce the PS4 free games that will make it to the October lineup. Ahead of the big reveal, PS Plus subscribers are already looking forward to horror titles, especially since Halloween is just around the corner.

Since January, members of PS Plus have been flocking over to Reddit to share their predictions about the upcoming lineups of free games on the console, and they were often able to prove themselves right. In fact, for seven out of the nine months this year, members were able to predict correctly at least one of the included games on the list.

Recently, members took to Reddit to predict the titles for October, which include popular ones such as a few from the "Resident Evil" franchise. Members believe that "Resident Evil" titles such as "Resident Evil 0 Remaster" and "Resident Evil: Revelations 2" are highly likely to be included in the October roster, considering the lineup for the same time period in 2016. Back then, PS Plus subscribers could download for free "Resident Evil HD," the remaster of the 2002 Gamecube remake of the 1996 original game that appeared on the PlayStation.

At the recent Tokyo Game Show 2017, Square Enix also confirmed that "Final Fantasy 9" was arriving on the PS4, although it did not specify when. To subscribers' surprise, the game was released on the same day, shortly after Square Enix's announcement. It was made available to PS Plus subscribers at a discounted price of £13.59.

Meanwhile, Sony previously announced that the PlayStation Network would be down on Monday, Sept. 25, for maintenance and was expected to last for two hours, between 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. EDT. However, according to Playstation's status page, everything is now "up and running."
