'Pokemon GO' Is Bringing A Different Kind of Mobile Gaming Experience

"Pokemon GO" is among the most-awaited mobile games of all time as its developer Niantic is promising that it will bring an altogether different mobile gaming experience. The game will be available as an app for iOS and Android devices and will be playable via a companion wearable device called the Pokemon Go Plus, which was developed by Nintendo. According to a report in TechAdvisor, the game is an augmented reality game that allows gamers to look for and catch Pokemon (pocket monsters) in the real world.

Once a player installs the app on their mobile device, they can start looking for, catch, battle and even trade pocket monsters that they have caught. Using their mobile device and aided by the Go Plus wearable device, players will be notified if a Pokemon is nearby when the Go Plus emits an LED light and "rumbles." Go Plus receives data through a Bluetooth connection. With their mobile device, they can proceed to catch the Pokemon once they have it in their sights. Players can also connect with other players who are nearby and can trade Pokemon via their devices.

According to Pokemon.com, Niantic founder John Hanke describes the game as follows: "For the first time, with this game, Pokémon are going to roam free in the real world. Pokémon GO will allow players to capture Pokémon who inhabit parks, shopping areas, sidewalks and the countryside all around the world. Imagine discovering a Squirtle hiding along the waterfront in San Francisco, a Bulbasaur at Shinjuku Station or a Pikachu beneath the Eiffel Tower."

The game's trailer provides a clearer look at how the game should be played. Aside from players catching and trading Pokemon among themselves, the trailer also showed players working together to battle a Pokemon under time pressure.

The game was earlier rumored to be released on November 20, but this turned out to be false. Niantic has not officially announced when the game is arriving.
