'Popcorn Time' Is Back Via Online Tool 'Torrents Time'

When copyright advocates in Hollywood shut down the community edition of "Popcorn Time" last December, they thought that they had done so permanently. The developers behind "Popcorn Time" however have vowed that they would make a comeback. And according to a report in Tech Times, they may have already staged their comeback through the help of a new online tool called "Torrents Time."

A web-based version of "Popcorn Time" is currently available and is called "Popcorn Time Online." It is an improvement on "Popcorn Time," which used to be an app that one downloaded and installed in order to stream video torrents. It creators, according to the report, call this Web version a "real revolution of the original 'Popcorn Time' and based on its appeal and functionality."

"Popcorn Time Online" is said to be powered by a new tool called "Torrents Time." This new technology allows users to stream and play any video format "smoothly and with stunning quality" which was not possible through the app.

Popcorn Time automates the entire "torrenting" process for TV shows and movies. With Torrents Times, all users need to do is click in order for them to download and play the file in the torrent itself, eliminating the need to download and install a BitTorrent client. The user also does not need to download and open the torrent itself in order to play the desired file.

The full source code of this version of "Popcorn Time" has also been released to the public through GitHub, enabling other developers to craft their own versions.

Currently, both "Popcorn Time Online" and "Torrents Time" offer support for these browsers: Chrome, Firefox, IE on Windows 7 and onwards, as well as OS X 10.8 and above. Developers are currently testing support for Safari but this may be out in a few weeks as well, according to the report.

Users are required by "Popcorn Time Online" to use a VPN, which can be obtained through an account with Anonymous VPN or through other technical means.
