Porsche Mission E News: On The Electric Sports Car Seeking to Dethrone Tesla

Tesla Motors' chief executive officer Elon Musk seems to be quite the competition in the automobile market. Automakers are hurrying to respond to the challenge of beating the Tesla Model 3. Recent reports have revealed that luxury automobile company Porsche has joined the fray with an all-electric car called Mission E.

First confirmed and revealed two years ago, the Porsche Mission E concept was made to compete against Musk's Tesla. Porsche's board chairman Oliver Blume told CAR Magazine that they are ahead of schedule and that they are now working in the engineering phase. Furthermore, Blume also revealed what to expect of the Mission E as he highlights the price tag that most fans would not expect from the luxury, all-electric sports car.

The chairman emphasized the price tag, which will be parallel to that of the Panamera base models. This means that the Porsche Mission E could cost somewhere between $85,000 to $90,000. Furthermore, given that the development is ahead of schedule, fans could experience the Mission E before the original 2020 debut date. Currently, the automobile giant believes that the electric sports car will be available by 2019.

There is a lot to talk about the Porsche Mission E. The specs are not something to be underestimated as it boasts 600 horsepower, a top speed of 150 miles per hour, can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, and a range of 310 miles on a full charge. Furthermore, there are two ways to charge the Porsche Mission E. One can be done through a charging plate, which can installed in the driver's garage, and the other is via a cable that can be connected to a port hidden just behind the fenders.

The Porsche Mission E also boasts intuitive technology, which allows it to determine where the driver is looking and deduce what they need to see. This means that the electric sports car is devoid of mirrors. Instead, it is equipped with cameras that capture all the aspects of the road and drive that users need to know.

There is no official release date yet for the Porsche Mission E, but fans are expecting more details in the coming months.
