Two players won the Match 5 Powerplay option, one from Colorado and one from Indiana. Each winner gets to bring home $2 million. Another player, who hails from Minnesota, won the Match 5, getting $1 million.

Across the United States, there are a total of 1,029,325 winners for the July 2 draw. The total amount of non-jackpot prizes won is $11,797,499.

Similarly, the Mega Millions draw has now reached $508 million, a jackpot that is about to enter record-breaking numbers if no winners appear anytime soon. The total jackpot prize for both Powerplay and Mega Millions now stand at a whopping $765 million.

How the game is played

Powerball draws occur every Wednesday and Saturday at exactly 10.59 P.M. During the draw, five white balls are taken from a group of 69 balls in a drum, while one red ball is taken from 26 in a drum.

This draw is a relatively new rule-changed; happened last October. The change was accompanied by a bigger jackpot prize. Players win the jackpot if all the white ball numbers match in any order plus the red ball match.

The second highest prize, known as the Match 5+0, is $1 million; given to a player who can get all five white balls in any order. There are other, smaller prizes as well. The probability of getting a prize while playing Powerball is 1 in 25.

Tickets are worth $2 each. Ticket sales stop 59 minutes, or earlier (depending on the state) from the day's draw.

Power Play Option

For an additional $1 on top of the $2 ticket, you can increase the original amount of the prizes, excluding the jackpot. For the Match 5+0, a winner that opted for Power Play will get $2 million instead of $1 million. For smaller prizes, Powerball representatives will draw a multiplier – 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x.

Payment Options

A Powerball jackpot winner can choose between annuity or one-time pay option. For annuity, the winner will receive an immediate payment, which is then followed by annual payments for the next 29 years. Each payment is 5% bigger than the next; made possible through Powerball investments on the remaining winnings.
