'Pretty Little Liars' Season 8 Spoilers: Creator Hints at New Season and Movie

The ABC teen drama series "Pretty Little Liars" is in the middle of its sixth season already, and it has already been renewed for another season. Earlier reports said that Season 7 will be the show's last season, but according to reports if the show's creator Marlene King had her way, she would still want to do not just one more season, but also a movie.

When King was speaking to the press during the Television Critics' Association press tour, she said, "I think we'll let the fans tell us what they want. We're open to that. I'm all for it. Yes, we're in." She mentioned that the possibility of another season and a movie is high.

An earlier report also hyped up fans hopes for a movie beyond Season 7, when one of the series' stars Lucy Hale confirmed the presence of rumors that a movie was on the way, but that "seven seasons will definitely end the show."

Speaking at the same press conference, another star of the series Shay Mitchell openly teased that if the show were to continue, she would want to see it "go into the 'Golden Girls' era." When asked about a "PLL" movie, she said: "I keep pushing them. We all do. We're like, 'Can we do it in Europe? Or, like, Tahiti?"

ABC, the network where the series has been housed since it started, has not made any official announcement about the future of the series beyond the seventh season. The show is set to start the second half of season six and King shared some tidbits about what's coming.

"We just try to keep the train moving as fast as possible on the tracks. We haven't slowed down, and we started in the beginning telling the story at a super fast speed and we try to keep up that speed, keep the twists and turns and the 'OMG' moments coming," she said.

When season 6 returns, the characters will be five years older after they left high school. The show continues to be one of ABC Family's top series, which is said to average at around three million viewers. It is also the "number 1 scripted series on basic cable this summer."
