'Pretty Little Liars' season 7 news: Plans for season 8 and a movie?

While it was confirmed that the hit series "Pretty Little Liars" is expected to return with season 7, there is a possibility that it will receive an 8th season, as well as its own movie.

It is speculated that the 7th season of Pretty Little Liars is expected to be the last run of the series. Lucy Hale, actress who plays Aria, confirmed that the series will be ending by season 7 last year. However, creator of the series Marlene King shared that she is still open to continuing the show, in an interview with Variety. She explained that they will allow fans to share their sentiments on the series. It was also reported that Marlene and Shay Mitchell have expressed their interest for a movie after the series finishes.

Marlene previously hinted at the possibility of a movie back in 2014. She said, "That's always been the ultimate goal, is that it ends its life in one medium and starts another life on film. I love that. Oh we want an in-theaters film! Big, big, big opening weekend, with all those 'Pretty Little Liars' fans are coming out. It would be so much fun. And we'd get to do so much like big stuff too." Mitchell also teased the idea of a movie during the Televisions Critics Association. She explained that she would like it to explore the "Golden Girls" era. She also shared that she would like to see it happen in Europe or Tahiti.
