Prince George of Cambridge's First Royal Duty: Playdate With New Zealand Residents

Prince George will participate in his first royal engagement today in New Zealand, as he plays with children born around his birthday. It will be a chance for the parents of the children to meet and interact with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who will be watching George as he makes new friends.

The playgroup will be held at Government House, the home of the Governor-General in Wellington, and is organized by Plunket, a parent support organization. The parents of those fortunate enough to be chosen to participate in the playgroup are excited about the chance of a lifetime and are looking forward to speaking with the royal couple.

"I've had a few jealous looks from other parents when they found out we were meeting the Duke and Duchess," Kate Bainbridge told the Daily Mail. "Even though we come from a very different background, we have got a lot in common with the Duke and Duchess because we've been through the sleepless nights and we can talk to them about our experiences. We are all first-time parents, like them, so it should be quite easy to chat to them."

10 families were chosen to participate in the playgroup and cannot wait to swap information and meet the little prince, whose presence is in high demand these days. George is expected to make two or three appearances, depending on his attitude and welfare.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess will be able to travel around New Zealand and Australia, meeting dignitaries and leaders of charities. During the three-week long trip, George will only be moved to three locations and will remain in the care of his nanny, Maria Teresea Turrion Borrallo. William and Kate will spend plenty of time with their young son every night before bed and have scheduled personal family days into their trip.

The public could not wait to see Prince George yesterday as the royal family landed in New Zealand. Pictures showed just how much the prince has grown since his christening.
