Quicktype From Apple and One-Handed Keyboard for iOS 8 Helps iPhone 6 Users

One of the most well-known feature included in the iOS 8 update is its support for third-party keyboard apps. Unlike before where iPhone and iPad users have been restricted by keyboards made by Apple, they can now download other keyboard apps like CoolKey, Swype, or SwiftKey.

While it might be exciting to make the switch to keyboard apps which only Android users have previously enjoyed, Apple's own keyboard app – Quicktype – is also be worth the try.

Quicktype is sort of like the Android keyboard apps with its predictive text technology but it also predicts who the messages is for, giving word suggestions which would seem appropriate for a message's recepient. Apparently, it also knows if the message is about a question and may already offer choices like "Yes" or "No."

Those apps may be sufficient for those who are using the older iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 family but for the bigger, iPhone 6 series, the keyboard apps might just be too largely adjusted to make one hand typing easy.

An app called One-Handed Keyboard is a keyboard app catered specifically for the bigger iPhone 6 and the even bigger iPhone 6 Plus. Unlike most other third-party keyboard apps, this keyboard app is pretty basic and only offers to resolve the issue of users not being able to type on the iPhone 6 with one hand.

Basically, the One-Handed Keyboard is a smaller keyboard – one which most iPhone users have grown accustomed to – which is docked to either side of the screen, with extra controls to select the theme or color of the keys.

It's only basic to the extent that the app doesn't have an auto-correct library which means that users will have to be careful with what they type as what they type is what's going to be shown.
