Radio Host Mark Levin Hangs Up on 'Intolerant' Atheist

Conservative radio host Mark Levin recently engaged in a tense conversation with an atheist caller on his show, ultimately hanging up on the caller after calling him "intolerant."

On the Monday airing of "The Mark Levin Show," Levin fielded a call from an atheist who told the radio host it "drives him crazy" when conservative people, like Levin, require potential presidential candidates to have faith in God.

The two then began to argue back and forth over the topic of religious liberty in America. "Oh, I forgot, I'm not supposed to mention faith or God," Levin sarcastically said to the caller. The radio host then sought to explain why he previously said that he wants a presidential candidate who isn't afraid to express their beliefs in God.

"I've decided to bring it up because I'm sick and tired of us being told, 'Just tax cuts, don't bring up that other stuff. Oh, my God! Don't bring up God! For God sakes!' Right? You got it?"

The caller replied to Levin by saying that he finds it "ridiculous" the host would use faith as a reason to select a presidential candidate. "To narrow down your desires, your qualifications for the next president, to list among them a professed faith, a religious faith, is ridiculous."

The two men continued to discuss the U.S. Constitution and its allowance of religious expression, with the caller maintaining his argument that a president should not profess his religious beliefs in the public square. To that argument, Levin replied: "So, you're an atheist, right? Okay, great. Can I help you out, pal? This world wasn't created by atheists. Meaning, this country was not created by atheists."

"The great thing about our Constitution and the great thing about the Judeo-Christian belief system is its tolerance," he continued. "You see, you have almost no tolerance for my viewpoint. This is the thing that really angers you! On the other hand, if you're an atheist, I could care less."

When the caller then proceeded to correct Levin's grammar, saying he should have said "I couldn't care less," Levin replied: "You know, you're an [expletive]. I've had about enough of you. You're a real punk. You know that? You have contributed nothing to this program in ten minutes. Zero. And you're not that smart."

"The problem that some of you atheists have is you're intolerant. You're intolerant. And you're a punk. So, get lost. Get out of here," Levin added, before disconnecting the caller.

Levin's handling of the situation has received mixed reviews, with some saying he became too heated over the debate and others saying he properly "schooled" the atheist caller.

"Wow. His tirade was amazingly pathetic … I've never actually seen someone troll themselves before," commented one listener on a Raw Story article that described the exchange.

"Mark Levin's an example of what the U.S. needs: someone willing to walk against the PC wind, and say 'this is enough; no more.' Too many in the public eye are terrified of addressing religious concerns because they'll lose financial support ... and frankly, I'm sick of it," commented another listener.
