'Rambo 5' Release Date, Rumors: 'I'm Getting Ready for That,' Says Sylvester Stallone

After the success of the most recent "Expendables" movie, new rumors surrounding the 68-year-old "elite mercenary ringleader" suggest that he is now starting to work for his upcoming return as John Rambo in a fifth installment of the Rambo movie.

True indeed, in a recent interview with Vulture, actor Sylvester Stallone gave light to the speculations of him getting shaped up for Rambo 5.

"I'm getting ready for that. I'm starting to work out. I'm going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart. Smart, yet stupid. Tall, yet short. Broad, but thin. You know what I mean. We're going to try to cover all the boundaries," he said.

Earlier this June, The Sydney Morning Herald reported that German movie company Splendid Films has given Sly the green light to work on the screenplay for the fifth sequel. According to their press release, Stallone will once again reprise his iconic role as John Rambo, a former Green Beret who is exceptionally skilled in various warfare aspects like weapon handling, hand to hand combat, as well as survival.

In the statement, it was revealed that the plot will now set up the hero going up against a Mexican cartel. Cinema Blend speculated that it would involve human trafficking and such.

"Stallone describes the new Rambo as his version of No Country for Old Men," the report added.

Screenrant further pointed out that "Rambo 5" could now be the "final" of the Rambo franchise following what seemed to be a conclusive ending on the previous Rambo (2008).

Meanwhile, HealthSite.com pointed out in their report former Mr. Olympia Franco Columbu (Sly's trainer) commending on the "Rocky" star's dedication to the program.

"Sly gives 100% all the time," he said. "And his determination is awesome. He is an achiever. A leader. He never sits back and let's things happen, he is the one who makes them happen."

Official release date of "Rambo 5" still remains unannounced.
