Real Madrid vs. Manchester City is probably the biggest tie in this week's round of Champions League matches. The domestic champions of arguably the top two soccer leagues in the world face off in this tie. The match kicks off at 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
Real Madrid have had a rough start to their new domestic campaign and have been stuttering in matches they ordinarily would be expected to win. Their recent defeat caused manager Jose Mourinho to question his side's commitment at the weekend. That defeat caused Real to already fall eight points behind arch rivals Barcelona in La Liga, and it is already looking at this early stage that Real will be unable to hold onto the title.
The Spaniards will welcome a break from their domestic woes in today's game, but they have a tough prospect in Manchester City. Over the past few seasons City have emerged as a middle-of-the-table struggling side to Premier League champions following heavy investment from new owners.
Last season saw City overturn arch rivals Manchester United to win the Premier League crown. The end to the Premier League season was arguably the most exciting of all time, as City's lead at the top of the table had been eaten away coming up to the final game. However, they simply needed to equal Manchester United's result. With literally seconds remaining City were a goal down, where as United were winning. However, two goals in the dying moments saw City win the title in the most dramatic style imaginable.
City have gotten off to a reasonable start to the new season, but an away Match against Real will be their stiffest test yet. Sergio Aguero has been reported as fit to come back into tonight's game following a month out with a knee injury.
Influential midfielder Gareth Barry is also fighting fit following an abdominal injury. He appeared for the first time this season against Stoke recently, when he came on from the bench.
Real will be favorites to win this game despite their stuttering start to the season. Out of 42 opening home games in the Champions League (and old European Cup), Madrid have won 40 of them.
