'Reign' Season 3 News: Midseason Finale Spoilers Reveal Elizabeth's Plan To Kill Mary

Things are expected to become even more complicated for Mary when the third season of The CW's hit historical fantasy drama TV series "Reign" returns early next month for its midseason finale.

The synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic for the episode titled "The Hound and the Hare" indicates the need for the widow of King Francis to team up with Catherine when she gets wind of the news that Elizabeth I might be after her neck. The duo suspects that the Queen's new ambassador to France, Gideon, could be the very person who will carry out the plan to take out the Queen of Scots and cause further instability in the region.

Adding more pressure to the situation is the upcoming visit of Prince Don Carlos of Spain to the French court. According to the media outlet, Mary will find out that the visiting monarch is hiding a "dark secret." She will ask for Catherine's advice on how to handle the situation.

The summary provided in TFC also mentioned Bash's pursuit of the mysterious killer. According to the site, his task is now coming to an end as he tracks down the person and confronts him or her at Greer's tavern.

A promo video for the episode shared over at Fashion & Style further hints of Prince Don Carlo's shady intentions as he can be seen having a secret rendezvous.

There's a huge possibility that the prince has a secret mistress in the kingdom or that he is involved in a greater conspiracy to further loosen Mary's hold of the French court.

In related news, a report from Carter Matt says that fans might have to wait as to what will happen next after the upcoming events of the midseason finale which airs Dec. 4. The media outlet cited the network's announcement indicating that the show might be taking "an indefinite hiatus."

The site attributed the decision to the show's unsatisfactory ratings especially when it decided to kill off one of the fans' favorites, King Francis.
