'Resident Evil 7' DLC Release Date News: Chris Redfield Returns in 'Not a Hero' DLC

Capcom has confirmed that the next downloadable content (DLC) for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will mark the return of someone that fans of the franchise will recognize.

The "Not a Hero" DLC, which was teased at the end of the "Banned Footage Vol. 1," will feature Chris Redfield, who has been heavily featured in previous installments of the game.

Redfield was the protagonist in "Resident Evil 1," "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6." He was portrayed as a hero in these titles, which is why it intrigues fans that he is the focus of the "Not a Hero" DLC.

Capcom teased on Twitter that Redfield is after someone or someone although the developer did not elaborate on that. However, there are speculations as to what the "Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero" DLC will be all about.

Some posit that Redfield is simply going undercover for a mission that needs him to work with the bad guys in order for him to take out whatever he is after from the inside.

There are "Resident Evil 7" players who are speculating that the Chris Redfield in the "Not a Hero" DLC could only be a clone.

Hardcore "Resident Evil" fans do not like the idea that Redfield may have switched sides and is now working for the Umbrella Corporation, which he went to hell and back for to take down.

Clearly, there is more to the "Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero" DLC than Capcom is letting on so players will have to wait for the update to come out this spring to find out more about it.

"Not a Hero" will be available for free. An exact release date should be announced soon, but the earliest it could arrive is March.

In related news, the first two "Resident Evil 7" DLCs, "Banned Footage Vol. 1" and "Banned Footage Vol. 2," are finally available on the PC and Xbox One.
