Real Housewives of Atlanta's Porsha Williams Reveals Kordell Stewart Physical Abuse 'Was Hard' (VIDEO)

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Porsha Williams recently opened up about enduring domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Kordell Stewart.

The Bravo TV star was infamously sent home in the midst of filming the season 6 reunion show last month after assaulting her co-star Kenya Moore and a new revelation about alleged domestic abuse could help shed a new light on the incident. Williams, 32, divorced the former NFL star, 41, last year after two years of marriage and she revealed disturbing details about their failed marriage during a recent appearance on "Access Hollywood."

"The video ["Flatline"] does touch on domestic violence and some abuse I encountered in my marriage," Williams said of the music video for her first single.

"It's not exact to what I went through, because, honestly, what I went through was a little bit worse in some instances," she explained.

Host Billy Bush then proceeded to press Williams on the topic by asking "What happened in the marriage?"

"Abuse. Physical abuse," Williams replied.

In March Williams, who is the granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams, was left blindsided when she discovered on Twitter that Stewart had filed for divorce. Their divorce was finalized in December.

Bush asked Williams whether the former Pittsburgh Steelers star ever "hit" her during their marriage.

"Yeah. There were several different occasions that this happened. When you're in an abusive situation, it kind of just builds, and it starts to get worse and worse," she said.

"And people ask me, why didn't you tell anybody or call the police or what have you? I just thought that I could make it better," she went on. "I honestly thought after each situation that I would change this or I would change that, and therefore the outcome wouldn't be the same. It doesn't work like that."

Williams also went on to explain that while she was subject to visible injuries, it was the "mental" scars that most affected her.

"I never went to the hospital. I never reported anything. There were [visible injuries], but I'll tell you the ones that have stuck with me the most is the mental abuse," she said.

"For me to be told I was lazy, and that I was stupid and that I wasn't good enough and that nothing I could do was right, that was really, really hard for me," she added.

Stewart previously blasted his ex-wife in a statement via his attorney Shiel Edlin. The father of one urged her to "stop vilifying" him in the press after she alluded to having doubts about his sexuality in a media interview.

"For reasons we cannot understand, [Porsha] displayed a reckless abandonment of anything close to the truth over the last eight months," Kordell's attorney Shiel Edlin told TMZ.com. "We are also hopeful that Porsha will stop vilifying Kordell at every opportunity."
