'Rick and Morty' Board Games Inspired by Adult Swim Hit Announced for 2017

As fans wait for "Rick and Morty" season 3, which has no premiere date yet, they can focus their attention first on new board games announced at the Toy Fair 2017 in New York.

Game and collectibles publisher Cryptozoic Entertainment is working on two new board games that were inspired from a couple of episodes of the Adult Swim hit.

The first one is called Rick and Morty: Anatomy Park Game, which is based on the episode that saw Rick shrink down his grandson, who then ends up inside the body of the homeless man, Ruben.

The "Rick and Morty" board game allows up to four players who take on the role of the duo in addition to Dr. Xenon Bloom, Annie, Poncho and Roger to build Anatomy Park inside Ruben's body.

"Players take turns moving about the Park, placing new Tiles, dealing with Diseases, and moving previously placed Tiles to better spots. Yeah, the Haunted Liver will look much better over ... there," Cryptozoic explained.

The second board game to look forward to is Rick and Morty: Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind Deck-Building Game, which sees Ricks from various dimensions come together and gang up on the "original" Rick accusing him of murdering other Ricks.

If it sounds familiar, it is because it was based on another episode from the first season of "Rick and Morty." As for the board game itself, it is designed after Cryptozoic's Cerberus deck-building engine.

Each player's deck starts with seven Genius Waves cards that give you Power as well as one Beth, one Jerry and one Summer, which can only activate other cards and nothing else.

"The 'Kick' stack in other Cerberus games is now the Portal Gun stack. The Portal Gun activates the Portal deck, which transports a player's Hero to a random Location from the episode or other popular places from the series. That player may then utilize that Location during his or her turn and has the option of paying the cost of the Location to put it into his/her deck," Cryptozoic explained.

Rick and Morty: Anatomy Park Game will be released on July 12 while the Rick and Morty: Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind Deck-Building Game will not be available until the fourth quarter of the year.
