'Rick and Morty' Season 3: Jerry Could Emerge as an Antagonist Over the Course of the Upcoming Episodes

Jerry and Rick's already fragile relationship could fully fracture in the third season of the show

Fans are still waiting for more details about "Rick and Morty's" third season. And while important things, such as its release date, are still lacking, there are some other bits of information and speculations that fans may want to hear about.

As many fans may already be aware of, Earth recently became a Galactic Federation-controlled planet, and this development is expected to have a significant impact on the show's characters moving forward.

Now, this change is expected to be both positive and negative, as residents of Earth may find that the new designation of their home planet has made things easier for them in terms of getting by on a daily basis. However, that could mean sacrifing their freedom to a certain degree.

Still, it looks like for some particular residents, the positive effects of Earth becoming controlled by the Galactic Federation have really turned their life around, with Jerry Smith serving as perhaps the most prominent example of this.

In a recent article, iDigitalTimes pointed to one specific Instagram post that seems to indicate that Jerry is really happy with what's going on.

Now, Jerry being happy is obviously not a bad thing in and of itself, but given that it seems his newfound sense of joy is directly tied into the presence of the Galactic Federation, that could cause some problems later on, problems specifically related to Rick.

As is noted in the Rick and Morty Wiki, Jerry and Rick's relationship is already not in a good place to begin with, so them suddenly having to stand on opposing sides and holding conflicting views with regards to the Galactic Federation may finally cause that already fragile bond to break.

It seems that Jerry may be in the spotlight even more in the third season of "Rick and Morty" and his development will be one thing fans will want to keep an eye on in the new episodes.
