Rihanna and Chris Brown were recently spotted ignoring each other at a Los Angeles nightclub ahead of Valentine's Day, sparking break-up rumors.

The couple, who reconciled in December – three years after their infamous split, arrived separately at the popular Playhouse Nightclub on Wednesday and ignored one another throughout the night, according to the Daily Mail.

Brown reportedly arrived an hour before Rihanna and when VIP hosts offered to seat Rihanna next to her boyfriend, she declined.

"Rihanna refused to sit with or even near Chris – and when Chris noticed she was there, he made a huge show of rubbing his presence in her face," a source told the Daily Mail.

"He promptly ordered three more bottles of ace of spades which came out with in a procession of sparklers and scantily clad cocktail waitresses, causing a spectacle, which he clearly wanted Rihanna to see," the insider continued.

Rihanna, who was accompanied by her bodyguards, had arrived at the establishment to celebrate its 1-year-anniversary event. The Bajan singer was reportedly unaware that Brown, who arrived surrounded by a group of 20, was also attending the same night.

The breakup speculation comes less than one week after rumors of an engagement began swirling. The pair attended the 55th Grammy Awards together on Sunday and appeared to be happy and in love throughout the night.

Rihanna, who wore a red, floor-skimming Azzedine Alaïa gown, sat directly alongside Brown, 23, who had his arm placed lovingly around her for throughout the event. When the 24-year-old first took to the stage to perform her new single "Stay," an emotional love song, fans immediately noticed the white gold sparkler that appeared on her ring finger and began speculating whether she was engaged.

Rihanna recently opened up about why she chose to reconcile with Brown three years after their infamous domestic assault incident.

"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it," she told Rolling Stone magazine.
