Robbie Lawler News: Dana White Says 'Ruthless' Is The UFC's Evander Holyfield

UFC president Dana White had some bold words to describe current welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.

"Ruthless" was able to defend his title for the second consecutive time on Saturday night at UFC 195 when he defeated former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit in a grueling, back-and-forth, five-round battle. Lawler won the fight via split decision, after a fifth round rally that had Condit rocked almost all-throughout the last five minutes of action.

White has always been a self-confessed boxing fan, having worked in the business prior to being the president of the biggest and most prominent mixed martial arts promotion company in the world today.

During the UFC 195 post-fight press conference, White's boxing fanaticism once again came out when he compared Lawler to a retired heavyweight legend.

According to MMA Fighting, White says, "[Lawler]'s our Evander Holyfield man, right?" He adds, "It's just like he's never in a boring fight. He's always, when he gets hurt he continues to go toe-to-toe. Robbie reminds me...he's our Evander Holyfield. He really is."

In addition, White also went on to give props to Lawler's performance, particularly in the last round where he let it all out. Because of his performance, including Condit's, White went on to describe it as the "best fifth round in UFC history."

For his part, Lawler was all praises towards Condit, whom he described as a "tough champion". "The Natural Born Killer" proved his toughness in the cage, particularly in that fifth round when he refused to go down, despite being hit by Lawler's hard shots.

Lawler was landing overhand rights and different punch combinations, but none of them were able to at least stop Condit in his tracks.

Condit, however, announced during the post-fight presser, that he was considering retirement after his loss to Lawler.

With the victory, Lawler now holds a win-loss slate of 27-10, with 21 victories by stoppage.
