Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart News: British Actor Undecided About Attending Actress' 24th Birthday

Robert Pattinson is said to be making an effort to attend the upcoming birthday of his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart, however, his attendance has not been confirmed.

The British actor, 27, is currently in Toronto, Canada filming scenes for his forthcoming movie "Life" which chronicles Magnum photographer Dennis Stock's real life friendship with legendary actor James Dean. Stewart, 23, reportedly invited her ex to her upcoming April 9 birthday bash, but he is tentative due to work commitments.

"If he could fly to L.A. and see her for her birthday he would do it in a heartbeat," one insider told HollywoodLife.com.

The "Twilight" stars split in May last year due to trust issues stemming from the "Camp X Ray" star's affair with film director Rupert Sanders. Despite their tumultuous past, the pair are said to be on good terms and make sure to keep in regular contact.

"Kristen wants to celebrate her upcoming birthday with her close friends in LA, and she wants Rob to join them as well," an alleged friend of Stewart's said.

"Even though she hasn't seen Rob for the longest time, they still talk all the time," the insider revealed. "They text, Skype. They are both pretty much in the same place right now, just focusing on work and staying focused."

The report comes weeks after insiders claimed the "Queen Of The Desert" actor is tired of fame and ready to pursue a more private life out of the spotlight.

Pattinson rose to worldwide stardom in 2008 following his breakout role as Edward Cullen in the film adaptations of the "Twilight" novels, and his life has never been the same.

"[He] doesn't want to be famous anymore ... The cost of fame is the thing he and Kristen used to complain about all day and that hasn't changed at all for him," an alleged friend of Pattinson's told RadarOnline.com.

The actor, who has also dabbled in modeling, reportedly wants to turn his back on acting and start directing movies. He has previously starred in various films including "Harry Potter" and "Water For Elephants."

"[He] is looking at a whole new approach to his future and is even considering going to theater school to focus more on getting behind the camera," the source revealed.

While Hollywood stardom has earned Pattinson a lucrative income and global recognition, it has also cost him his privacy. Like other Hollywood stars, Pattinson is often hounded by paparazzi and subject to false tabloid rumors, which is reportedly taking a toll.

He previously touched on the downside of fame in a candid interview with GQ magazine.

"Fame is a fight to survive! Some people can't take it and freak out, but I can understand that," Pattinson told GQ Italy. "With paps hiding everywhere, it's really difficult to meet new people and have new experiences."
