August 21, 2012|9:26 am

Longtime entertainer and talk show host Rosie O'Donnell revealed to her fans through her blog that she suffered a heart attack recently and has been at home recovering.

The 50-year-old comedienne relived the experience on her blog Monday, explaining that after she noticed she was experiencing various symptoms which included nausea, aches and other symptoms, she went online and preformed an online search for "women's heart attack symptoms." After, O'Donnell stated that she took a few aspirin and went to a cardiologist the next day.

The cardiologist revealed that one of her arteries was 99 percent blocked and inserted a stent inside.

After realizing how serious the situation was, O'Donnell took to her blog to offer her personal experience and advice to women.

In the blog entry on her website, through a poem entitled "my heart attack," O'Donnell revealed that the type of attack was known as the "widow maker."

"Know the symptoms ladies / listen to the voice inside / the one we all so easily ignore…they call this type of heart attack the Widow maker i am lucky to be here," O'Donnell wrote.

O'Donnell said her chest began to ache last week and she became nauseous and feverish after helping a woman who was struggling to get out of her car in her Nyack village home near New York City.

"My body hurt. i had an ache in my chest both my arms were sore everything felt bruised…i took some bayer aspirin thank god saved by a tv commercial literally," she posted to her blog.

O'Donnell has had a long and prosperous career and has acted in several films and television shows including Drop Dead Diva, Will and Grace and Nip/Tuck.

The comedian recently hosted "The Rosie Show" on the Oprah Winfrey Network. It was canceled in March due to poor ratings.
