Prince William's wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a boy at a London hospital on Monday.
The duchess and Prince William traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital in London, according to announcement from Clarence House at 7:37 a.m. local time on Monday.
According to a statement announcing the birth, "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24 p.m. (…) The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz."
St. Mary's Hospital is where Princess Diana also gave birth to William in 1982 and Harry in 1984.
According to a Kensington Palace spokesman, the baby's name will be announced in due time.
The royal birth has caught the attention of numerous other pregnant mothers, according to reports, with some parents rumored to have delayed naming their own newborns hoping to copy, or avoid, the new royal name.
The royal baby will officially be known as His or Her Royal Highness Prince or Princess [Name] of Cambridge.
In the days leading up to the big day, reporters and photographers from all around the world camped outside the hospital awaiting news of the birth.
Now many are wondering what the baby looks like. Does he look more like Kate or William? Here are some photos published around the web suggesting what the baby could look like:
