Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro was clinically dead for 45 minutes after giving birth in September and has now spoken about her experience, telling the public on Monday that she saw spiritual beings waiting for her.

"I was dead," the mother of two told ABC News. "My husband tells me, 'You were gray. You were cold as ice, and you were dead. You had no color in your lips."

Graupera-Cassimiro underwent a cesarean section at Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida and doctors believe that amniotic fluid entered her bloodstream, stopping her heart. Doctors worked on her, administering CPR and trying to wake their patient for three hours, but nothing worked. Just as they prepared to call her time of death, she spontaneously began breathing on her own.

"I remember seeing a spiritual being who I believe was my dad," she explained. "I remember the light behind him and many other spiritual beings. I was chosen to be here."

Miraculously, Graupera-Cassimiro suffered no consequences from not having a heartbeat for so long, nor did she suffer cracked ribs from CPR. Doctors can offer no explanation for recovery, except to call it "divine providence."

"She essentially spontaneously resuscitated when we were about to call the time of death," Dr. Thomas Chakurda told the Sun Sentinel. "Today she is the picture of health."

"I don't know why I was given this opportunity, but I'm very grateful for it," Graupera-Cassimiro said. "God had the right people in the right place."

Now she is thrilled to be reunited with her family and baby girl Tally, who is seven weeks old and also the picture of health. Her family is also grateful to God for sending Graupera-Cassimiro back to them.

"I realized through all of this that one, we really don't really have control of our lives," she then told ABC News. "The day you go is the day that you were destined to go."
