Following their divorce announcement in December, Russell Brand has admitted that he still loves Katy Perry during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres this week.

Additionally, the 36-year-old Brit added a Twitter post explaining his feelings.

"I was very happy to be married with her," wrote Brand. "She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her."

Speaking to DeGeneres, the "Get Him to the Greek" star explained the failed relationship with 27-year-old Perry.

"I still love [Katy] as a human being," said Brand. "But, sometimes, when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything."

Since their split, Perry has been rumored to be in a relationship with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. Additionally, Brand has reportedly moved on with several women, including model Oriela Medellin.

"You can't absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life," Brand added, reflecting on his marriage to Perry on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

"Sometimes things are just different and you just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and each other with any situation," he added.

Brand and Perry married during a ceremony that took place in India. The couple split just 14 months later. Their divorce will become official by California law in July.

In the meantime, Perry is staying busy with her sky-rocketing music career and pursuing a career in acting. The singer offered her voice to "The Smurfs" last year, and has been rumored to be involved in a project with producer Harvey Weinstein.

Additionally, the "California Gurlz" singer is preparing for the release of her concert documentary, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," in theaters on the Fourth of July.
