Russell Wilson glorified God before battling through health issues to win one of the toughest games of his career on his birthday Sunday.

During a post game press conference, Wilson, 27, admitted that he had been suffering from flu-like symptoms in the 39-30 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He woke up at 5:45 a.m. and recalled getting three IVs placed into his arm throughout the day.

"I've been up since pretty early this morning," Wilson said at the postgame press conference. "… I was good last night, then this morning I woke up at 5:45 and it didn't look too good after that."

Still, the QB chose to start his day giving God the glory.

"#BVY He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30," Wilson wrote early on his birthday morning.

The Christian athlete subsequently played the best game of the season thus far with a career high five touchdown throws, throwing 345 yards on 21-of-30 passing, which resulted in his team's 6-5 record. This win was the first time the Seahawks bested a team with a winning record this season.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll couldn't help but sing Wilson's praises after the quarterback matched the team's record of five touchdowns.

"Russell played like crazy, he had a fantastic game today," Carroll said at the press conference. "His receivers were all over it and did magnificent stuff catching the ball, making plays, making first downs."

The team's wide receiver Doug Baldwin also had a career high game with six catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns. The wideout spoke highly of Wilson who has never sat out of a game even in moments of sickness.

"You could see his focus was a little bit sharper. Not that he wasn't focused before, but you could just see in his eyes that he had that killer instinct like, 'I am going to go out there and do what I've got to do,'" Baldwin said after the game. "That's Russell Wilson — whenever his back is against the wall, he plays his best. I wouldn't count him out for anything."

The game was special for Wilson, who also considered the win a birthday gift.

"Best birthday gift I could ask for," he tweeted. "Seattle Seahawks W! #gohawks."

Wilson's singer girlfriend Ciara Harris also took to Twitter to wish her boyfriend a happy birthday.

"Happy Birthday To The Most Loving, Caring, and Selfless Man I Know," she wrote. "You Are Truly #1of1."

Wilson and Ciara came together earlier this year and spoke about dating for a divine purpose.

"I met this girl named Ciara who was the most beautiful woman in the world, the most kind person, the most engaging person, everything that I could ever want. For me, I knew that God had brought me in her life to bless her and for her to bless me," Wilson said back in July at Rock Church in San Diego, California. "We're not going to be perfect, by any means. But He's anointed both of us and He's calling for us to do something special."
